Ion MARIN

Born in Romania in 1960, Ion Marin trained at George Enescu Academy, Salzburg Mozarteum and Accademia Chiggiana. Marin’s first major post as Resident Conductor was at Wiener Staatsoper during Abbado’s directorship between 1986 and 1991. As an accomplished opera conductor, he has worked with Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Hamburg, Semperoper Dresden, Bayerische Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zürich, Opéra Bastille, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro La Fenice and Metropolitan Opera. He has also worked with Berliner Philharmoniker, London Philharmonic, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and Czech Philharmonic. Recent highlights include Berliner Philharmoniker’s annual Waldbühne concert.
